Welsh Aimee is Irish Dance Champion!

Senior Musicality student Aimee Herbert has just become ‘Ardghrad Irish Open Champion 2017’ (under 19s category) and we couldn’t be more proud! The competition, which took place on 28th April was held in Saggart, Ireland and competitors were all dancing for the Ardghrad trophy. (See photo below).

Now Aimee has become champion, she will start to work towards the ‘Craobhghrad Award’ which is the hardest of the Irish Dance Awards and Aimee along with one of her friends will be the first Welsh students to compete for this particular award in Ireland!

Aimee has been Irish dancing since she was 6 years old and trains 2 or 3 times a week, proving that practice really does make perfect!.

At Musicality, Aimee is more often seen in our musical theatre productions and in our next production of ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ will be a featured dancer (no surprise there)!  Aimee is also the dance captain for the show and takes the 6pm fitness class for children at the Canolfan, Gorseinon every Wednesday.
