Josh Thomas is selected to study for a PhD at Oxford University

By -

Alumni Josh Thomas left Musicality to study at Oxford University and is just nearing the end of his 3 year studies in Biological Sciences where he is on a First Class Mark.

Josh is absolutely thrilled to have just been selected to study for a PhD in Social Evolutionary Biology and Genetics from October this year and is quite rightly, ‘over the moon’!

Whilst at Musicality, Josh took part in several productions that included ‘Copacabana’, ‘Alice, the Musical’ (Tweedledee) and his parting production, ‘The Addams Family’. (Lucas).

Despite being hugely academic, Josh thoroughly enjoyed his time at Musicality and found it to be invaluable experience, especially when it came to interviews etc. where his performance training gave him added poise and confidence.

Josh has since spoken to current students at Musicality about the importance of taking a mix of hobbies, emphasising that when it comes to University interviews, it is so important to have something ‘different’ and ‘interesting’ to discuss which reveals you as a well rounded candidate. We love that Josh backs the performing arts as well as more academic subjects and are proud to have had him in the company.

Of course we wish Josh every success in his extended venture at Oxford and look forward to seeing him at our next production in July. ‘M’ An evening of Musical Theatre’ is at The Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot and celebrates our 10th birthday – We shall be sure to raise a glass to the future Dr.Thomas as part of our celebrations!
